New discussion series: Robert Habeck regularly live at the Berliner Ensemble

Starting with the 2025/26 season, the Berliner Ensemble will launch a new discussion series with Robert Habeck entitled "Habeck Live," as the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm in Berlin-Mitte announced on Wednesday. The opening event will take place on Sunday, October 5, in the Grand Theater. The topic: "Do democracies need emergencies?" Controversy is not expected, as Robert Habeck will discuss this question with the friendly journalist and former talk show host Anne Will and the lawyer and politician Volker Wissing. Wissing served alongside Habeck as Minister for Digital Affairs in the cabinet of the "traffic light" coalition. One day after the coalition collapsed, he announced his resignation from the FDP and also assumed the post of Minister of Justice.
In his regular Sunday salon, Habeck will discuss key social, political, and cultural issues of our time with guests, according to the theater. The aim is to illuminate backgrounds and structural problems beyond the current political turmoil.
"As a politician, Habeck always stood for dialogue and alliance politics," the press release reads. After the 2025 federal election, he decided to step back from the front row of politics. "With 'Habeck live,' he is now being given a new platform at the invitation of the Berliner Ensemble and in collaboration with Studio Bummens to continue the dialogue beyond current headlines." The press release ends with a Habeck quote: "Democracy means not only that everyone can express their opinion, but also that someone listens."
Habeck live. October 5, 3 p.m., at the Berliner Ensemble's main hall. Regular advance ticket sales begin on July 3, 2025, at 10 a.m.
