In the hustle and bustle of recent global political events, a significant turning point has gone almost unnoticed: On June 16, 2025, at the 51st G7 summit in Banff, Canada , Europe died—at least as the idea of an emancipatory, humanistic project. In their joint declaration, the G7 called for "de-escalation" in the Middle East. Israel was granted an unrestricted "right to self-defense," while Iran was categorically forbidden from ever acquiring nuclear weapons. Behind the supposedly neutral term "de-escalation" lies the de facto demand for the unconditional submission of one side—Iran.
