That could have gone wrong, or rather, completely washed out. Dark clouds hung over Germany's most important construction site all Friday morning, but at 2:30 p.m., when the foreman and his fellow construction workers emptied their red wine glasses in one gulp and shattered them for good luck, and then the topping-out ceremony crown was hoisted into the sky, the weather held. Good visibility, not a drop of rain, glorious German autumn weather.
