Berlin cancer study: New mechanism in tumor development discovered

Kirsten Kübler has discovered how a cancer drug can promote secondary cancers. In doing so, she discovered a fundamentally new pathway for cancer development.
Berlin researchers are increasingly publishing studies in prestigious international scientific journals. These include the early detection and prevention of cancer. One of the most recent examples is a study involving Berlin researcher Kirsten Kübler. Together with researchers from the USA – from Harvard Medical School and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard University – she has discovered a previously unknown mechanism of cancer development. This is in women taking the drug tamoxifen for breast cancer. These women have an increased risk of a second cancer in the uterus.
