  • strong coffee or espresso,
  • one or more scoops of vanilla ice cream,
  • a dash of milk,
  • a layer of whipped cream, dusted with cocoa if desired.

First, brew the coffee or espresso and stir in a little sugar, if desired, while it's still warm. Then chill for at least 30 minutes. Prepare a large glass and fill it with a few scoops of vanilla ice cream.

Now fill the rest of the glass with the cold coffee. If the coffee is still too strong for you, mix in a little more milk. Finally, top up the rest of the glass with cream – preferably whipped yourself. If that's too much work for you, you can use whipped cream instead. Finally, add a little cocoa powder, and your homemade iced coffee is ready!

The café frappé originated in Greece, where it was first created by Dimitrios Vakondios in 1957, purely by chance. The uniqueness of the café frappé lies in its use of instant coffee as its base ingredient. Today, the café frappé is prepared in many different ways; in Greece, it is traditionally enjoyed with or without sugar and with or without milk. The instant coffee is first frothed until cold, then ice cubes are added. Pour everything into a large glass and top with a straw, and the uncomplicated, refreshing café frappé is ready.

These are the ingredients that end up in the glass one after the other:

  • About two fingers wide of water mixed with instant coffee powder.
  • Add two tablespoons of sugar, then froth everything with a small milk frother. The foam should fill at least the bottom third of the glass.
  • Add some ice cubes, then fill the second third of the glass with milk.
  • Fill the last third with water.
  • Stir everything, done.

For coffee enthusiasts, the bitter Espresso Tonic is definitely worth a try. It consists primarily of two ingredients: tonic water and espresso. Here's how to recreate this cult drink at home:

  • Fill a long drink glass with enough ice cubes.
  • Add 180 ml of tonic water.
  • Add 60 ml of freshly aromatic espresso.
  • Be careful when pouring the liquids. This prevents them from mixing, preserves the espresso's crema, and creates a visually attractive separation between the individual layers.

Particularly simple and incredibly refreshing: brewed coffee in ice cubes. If you don't feel like mixing a classic iced coffee, you can also try the following recipe, which saves a lot of work:

The well-known Irish coffee over ice is also a great option and is mixed as follows:

  • 30 ml chilled espresso
  • 15 ml Kahlúa

  • 5–10 ml sugar syrup
  • Shake everything in a cocktail shaker and serve over ice with a sprig of peppermint – your cool coffee drink is ready.
