Salma Hayek Details Bond With Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' Kids
Just call her tía Salma Hayek.
Because that's what the Desperado star said she's known as to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' four kids: James, 10, Inez, 8, Betty, 5, and Olin, 2.
Explaining how she's been friends with the couple for "a very long time," Salma exclusively told E! News at the 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue launch party May 15, "I'm close to the kids."
"I got a chance to go play with them," she continued. "They got to see the tía Salma."
In fact, the 58-year-old said Blake and Ryan's children can even "speak some Spanish," her native tongue.
"Especially a little one," Salma noted. "They understand Spanish, and they're lovely."
Indeed, the actress' friendship with the family goes way back. She worked with Blake on 2012's Savages, before costarring with Ryan in 2017's The Hitman's Bodyguard and its 2021 sequel The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard.
"I still have never met anybody that, at such an early stage in their life, had such a sense of self, so much courage," she said of Blake in 2017, while presenting the Gossip Girl alum with an award at Variety's Power of Women luncheon. "I saw her take on one of the biggest bullies in this industry that everybody feared."
Salma continued, "She has a great sense of family. She has a great sense of honorability, fantastic values. She has a great sense of fashion, sense of humor. She is the ultimate mother—even to me."
And Salma knows a thing or two about motherhood. After all, she and husband François-Henri Pinault share 17-year-old daughter Valentina, who Salma said in her E! interview is a "really good student."
As the Oscar nominee noted, "She's completely focused on her exams."
So much so that the teen "doesn't really know what Sports Illustrated is" and how big of a deal it is to have her mom be on the cover of its iconic swimsuit issue, according to Salma.
"I love it that she's just focused on her own destiny and her own future," she quipped of her daughter. "She's focused on her own life."
