What's a must for a summer in the South of France ? Rosé wine, crochet dresses , striped tops, and, of course, the music of Françoise Hardy. For Sofia Richie Grainge , who's now enjoying a holiday on the Côte d'Azur after a wedding in Monaco, there's one more thing: a classic bob .

On Instagram, the model unveiled her "French bob," cut by London-based hairstylist George Curran . Until now, Sofia was primarily known for her long hair and her tight bun in a warm blonde shade. With the new hairstyle, she remains true to her center parting, even though her hair now ends at chin-length. The bob not only emphasizes the interplay of the different blonde tones, but is also perfect for summer on the Côte d'Azur.

"Sofia's hair could use a little refresh," explains Curran, referring to the clean-girl updos for which Richie Grainge is known. "She was nervous, but in a good way." The model had been thinking about the decision for several weeks. "She had already chopped off a few inches recently—but now she wanted a completely new look."

In a TikTok video, the model explains her reasoning: She had too many keratin treatments and kept cutting off bits in the hope that this would make her hair healthier again. "But that just didn't work. I know I just have to start over to get healthy hair again—that's why it's going to be a bob."

The nervousness was palpable, and she did have a brief moment of satisfaction with her long hair – but ultimately, she didn't let it deter her and stuck with the bob. "It's a great look, and we're starting from scratch," Curran said.
