Tehran manages to pierce Israel's air defenses with a few of its missiles. Three people are killed in the attack. Defense Minister Katz threatens Iran, saying the country will pay a "high price" for the attacks on civilian targets.

There is no sign of de-escalation between arch-enemies Israel and Iran, even on the second day since the war began. According to the armed forces, Israel was attacked again with rockets and drones at dawn.

According to media reports, three people were killed in Israel as a result of renewed rocket attacks by the Islamic Republic. Dozens more suffered injuries, some seriously, the Times of Israel reported this morning. Israeli rescue services, meanwhile, report only two deaths. According to a military spokesperson, most of the rockets were intercepted. According to unconfirmed media reports, the United States is assisting Israel with missile defense.

However, there were impacts in the center of the country, including in the Tel Aviv area, and debris from intercepted missiles fell to the ground, the newspaper reported. Several buildings were severely damaged. This morning, the army reported another drone attack from Iran. Sirens sounded again in several areas.

Israel attacks targets in Tehran

According to state media reports, Iran's military shot down Israeli drones near the border. State broadcaster located the incident in the northwest, not far from the border with Azerbaijan and Turkey. Heavy shelling again occurred overnight in Iran, including in several major cities. Explosions and the rumble of anti-aircraft fire could again be heard for hours in the center of the capital, Tehran. Explosions occurred at the military section of Mehrabad Airport near Terminal 4, the state news agency IRNA reported. A hangar for fighter jets was hit. Air traffic remains suspended.

The Israeli army reportedly attacked dozens of targets in Iran overnight. Among them, the military said, were surface-to-air missile infrastructure. The aim was to damage the air defenses around Tehran and give the Israeli Air Force a free hand there.

According to the head of the Iranian Air Force, the army attacked defenses in the area around the Iranian capital for the first time since the beginning of the war – more than 1,500 kilometers from Israeli territory. In a statement released by the military, Tomer Bar spoke of "precise strikes of operational and national importance."

Israel also announced an expansion of its attacks on targets in Iran. Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened that Iran had crossed a red line by attacking civilian targets and would pay a "very high price." A senior Israeli security official was quoted in domestic media as saying that Israel would target Iranian oil facilities if Iran attacked population centers in Israel.

Iran responded immediately to the threats: Important economic and energy centers in Israel would then be attacked "immediately and in a far more destructive and devastating manner," wrote the Fars news agency, known as the mouthpiece of Iran's elite armed forces. Earlier, Iranian head of state Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had already written on X: "The armed forces of the Islamic Republic will certainly deliver devastating blows to this wicked Zionist enemy."
