Middle East crisis reaches Germany: This is the most expensive gas station in Berlin

The Middle East conflict is now also making itself felt at gas stations in Berlin. After falling for two weeks, prices are now trending upwards again.
On Tuesday morning, drivers had to pay around €1.80 for a liter of Super E10 gasoline at some gas stations in the capital, while diesel prices topped €1.70. Fuel prices haven't been this high in a long time, and they could continue to rise.
The most expensive gas station in the capital is probably located on the A115. There, a liter of Super E10 cost €2.15, while diesel cost €2.02. On Neuköllner Straße, the price for a liter of gasoline (E10) was €1.80 at midday, according to the "Benzinpreis-aktuell" platform.
On the other hand, it's definitely worth it for drivers to fill up in Poland. According to the Märkische Oderzeitung, the average price in Poland is currently 5.84 zloty per liter of E10 gasoline, equivalent to 1.37 euros. For diesel, the average price is 5.73 zloty, or 1.34 euros.
Highest prices had to be paid so far in 2022The reason is the price of crude oil, which has risen following Israel's attack on Iran. Experts believe it's possible that Iran will carry out its threat and block the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important trade routes. A large portion of oil supplies from the Persian Gulf countries pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the German Automobile Club (ADAC), 2022 was the "most expensive year ever" in Germany. Drivers had to shell out an average of €1.86 for a liter of Super E10 at gas stations, while a liter of diesel cost around €1.95. According to the ADAC, gasoline was around 27 cents more expensive than in the previous record year of 2012, and diesel was almost 30 cents more expensive.
