2. Bundesliga: Bielefeld surprises with 2-0 win against former league leaders Elversberg

Hertha BSC won the clash between struggling promotion hopefuls in the last second, denying Markus Anfang a taste of success in his second game as Fortuna Düsseldorf coach. Maurice Krattenmacher scored the celebrated winner for the home side in the sixth minute of stoppage time, punishing Fortuna's proliferation of chances, which had initially missed opportunities every minute.

Both teams will be back on the pitch in the DFB Cup in just a few days: Hertha hosts league rivals SV Elversberg on Tuesday, while Düsseldorf is the underdog against Bundesliga side SC Freiburg on Wednesday.

SV Elversberg missed the chance to return to the top of the 2. Bundesliga table. Coach Vincent Wagner's team suffered a surprise 2-0 defeat at newly promoted Arminia Bielefeld. The second defeat of the season, courtesy of a goal conceded by Joel Grodowski in the 17th minute and an own goal by Florian Le Joncour in the 28th minute, also ended Elversberg's seven-match unbeaten streak. Bielefeld's home win was a revival after four consecutive defeats.

The Saarlanders fell back to third place in the table, as their pursuers SC Paderborn won 2-1 at Dynamo Dresden and the new leaders FC Schalke 04 won 1-0 against Darmstadt 98 on Friday.

VfL Bochum remains undefeated under new coach Uwe Rösler. In the clash between the two relegated top-flight teams, Bochum earned a 1-1 (0-0) draw at Holstein Kiel. A week ago, VfL had beaten Hertha BSC 3-2 in Rösler's debut.

For halftime, both teams offered a meager performance in front of 15,034 spectators at the Holstein Stadium. After the break, the game picked up pace. Francis Onyeka gave Bochum the lead with a penalty (55th minute). But Kiel didn't give up and earned a deserved equalizer through substitute Louis Köster (86th minute). The draw was nevertheless a disappointment for Kiel. Coach Marcel Rapp's team is now four matches without a win and is stuck in the middle of the 2. Bundesliga table. Despite their upward trend under Rösler, Bochum remains second to last.

Filip Bilbija (45th+1) also equalized with a penalty before Mika Baur (65th) turned the game around. Paderborn remains firmly in second place in the league's top group. Dresden remains at the bottom of the table.
