LIVE! Long-distance battle for the top spot: Arsenal vs. Palace - City at Aston Villa
Brentford FC
Liverpool FC

90' Liverpool FC's nosedive in the Premier League continues: The Reds suffered a surprise 2-3 defeat to Brentford FC on Saturday evening.

90' +11 Things get really dicey again: Salah dribbles halfway across the penalty area and then has an eye for Robertson. His sharp yet low cross from the byline is somehow cleared.

90' +9 Kelleher doesn't follow the eight-second rule: Liverpool actually gets another corner!

Liverpool FC
Mohamed Salah

Is there some excitement coming back here? Szoboszlai crosses from the right into the six-yard box, where Salah skillfully plucks the ball out of the air with his left foot and thunders it under the bar with his right. A fantastic goal.

64' Great chance for Liverpool, but van den Berg pulls off a monster tackle in the six-yard box and blocks Salah in dire need.

Brentford FC
Igor Thiago

After van Dijk's foul on the edge of the penalty area, a free kick is initially awarded, but VAR shows that Ouattara was hit on the box line. Igor Thiago unceremoniously scores the penalty.

55' Brentford's third goal is in the air: Damsgaard gets too much space in front of the penalty area, Mamardashvili flies and clears.

54' Brentford had the first real chance after the break: Schade was sent out to the left wing, where he immediately found Igor Thiago with a quick-thinking pass. The angle was too tight for Thiago, as Mamardashvili tumbled out of goal.

45' Halftime at the Gtech Community Stadium: Brentford take a not undeserved lead into the dressing room. Liverpool once again showed themselves vulnerable defensively, which the home side took full advantage of. Wirtz narrowly missed his first goal before Kerkez kept hope alive shortly before halftime.

Liverpool FC
Milos Kerkez

This comes completely out of nowhere: Liverpool push forward on the right, where Bradley simply cuts a sharp pass into the middle. Ekitiké misses the ball. Kerkez lurks behind and shoots powerfully with his weaker right foot.

45' +1 Liverpool vehemently demanded a penalty – Wirtz backheeled Gakpo, who fell after contact from Ajer. That one certainly could have been awarded.

Brentford FC

Liverpool are extremely high and are countered with a classic counterattack. After losing the ball in Brentford's half, things move quickly – Damsgaard sends Schade through. He crosses to Konaté and is one-on-one with Mamardashvili. The Georgian can't prevent the shot.

39' The game had become increasingly flat in the final minutes – and then Damsgaard woke the stadium collectively. After a misplaced pass from van Dijk, the Dane fired in. Mamardashvili stretched and tipped the ball over the bar.

20' Wirtz's first Premier League goal isn't far off! The German international sets things up well, but Ekitiké's attempt is blocked with a backheel, and the ball falls back to Wirtz's feet. He has to react quickly and shoots just wide to the left from around eleven meters.

10' Salah gets a taste of equalizing: After Mamardashvili's long ball, Gakpo passes the ball to Salah in the center of the penalty area, but the ball bounces slightly away. Former LFC goalkeeper Kelleher dives out of the goal and prevents the shot from going in.

Brentford FC
Dango Ouattara

An early cold shower for Liverpool: Kayode hurls a throw-in on the left side deep into the penalty area. Ajer, in an aerial duel with Ekitiké, heads the ball on at the left corner of the six-yard box. Kerkez isn't close enough to Ouattara, who fires a powerful shot home from close range.

Manchester United
Brighton & Hove Albion

90' Manchester United's upward trend continues: The Red Devils deservedly won 4-2 in front of their home crowd against Brighton, who were extremely vulnerable defensively for a long time and woke up too late.

Manchester United
Bryan Mbeumo

The final minutes at Old Trafford are truly a thrill: Manchester United defends forward – and is rewarded for it. Heaven, perhaps somewhat unintentionally, plays the ball into the path of Mbeumo, who coolly fires a shot under the bar on the left side of the penalty area.

Brighton & Hove Albion
Charalampos Kostoulas

Is there still something going on here? Milner's corner from the right flies to the near post, where the 18-year-old Greek star Kostoulas powerfully heads in. No blame on Lammens.

88' The attempt wasn't so bad: Welbeck was well-marked, and the Englishman then fed Kadioglu on the left. Lammens cleared Kadioglu's right-footed shot for a corner.

Brighton & Hove Albion
Danny Welbeck

But the free kick doesn't go unnoticed: Welbeck fires the free kick over the wall and under the crossbar. Lammens doesn't look his best, but he gets close to it, but can't prevent it from going in.

Brentford FC
Liverpool FC

8:00 PM The 5-1 Champions League victory against Frankfurt was likely a way for Liverpool FC to cope with their frustration. Will the Reds now find their way back to the league?

Manchester United
Brighton & Hove Albion

71' How are Brighton defending here? After another serious build-up error, Mbeumo is completely unmarked in the penalty area, but only hits the left post.

Manchester United
Bryan Mbeumo

Hürzeler's three-man substitution immediately goes nowhere: After Rutter loses the ball, things move quickly. Sesko sets up Mbeumo with fine technique, who cleverly delays on the edge of the box and powerfully fires through Dunk's legs into the bottom right corner. The game is over.

48' Brighton continues to struggle at the back, and United miss the chance to make it 3-0. In the end, Bruno Fernandes is allowed to shoot from the right of the six-yard box. Verbruggen throws up his left arm and prevents the shot from going in.

45' Halftime at Old Trafford – and once again, there's real satisfaction: The home side take a 2-0 lead into the dressing room. Brighton started boldly but then eased off the pace. Casemiro has been the difference so far.

44' A truly impressive move from Manchester United, with Bruno Fernandes setting it up with a technically sophisticated effort. Mbeumo then immediately sends Sesko into the left corner of the penalty area, but the former Leipzig player's powerful shot flies wide.

Manchester United
Casemiro

Brighton are now truly vulnerable defensively. The next risky pass backfires: Shaw flicks the ball away and sets up Casemiro. Casemiro quickly fires in from a central position just outside the penalty area. Ayari deflects the long-range shot, leaving Verbruggen unable to save.

Manchester United
Matheus Cunha

Manchester United rewarded themselves with the lead in their best moment: The Red Devils tamed their opponents in front of the penalty area. Bruno Fernandes passed to Casemiro, who immediately passed to Matheus Cunha. Cunha curled the ball around van Hecke with his second touch and into the bottom right corner.

16' Thousands of people at Old Trafford called for a penalty after de Cuyper clearly hit Amad. However, because he apparently took off a bit early, referee Anthony Taylor decided against awarding a penalty.

7' Hürzeler sets his team up high from the start. Welbeck takes off after a powerful touch down the right, finding Minteh in the middle. He gets a gentle nudge from Mbeumo. Otherwise, the bell might have rung by now.

Chelsea FC
AFC Sunderland

90' Sunderland AFC continues its upward trend! A throw-in and a long shot are enough to secure three points against Chelsea FC. The fact that the Blues, who lost for the first time in four consecutive victories, were dominant throughout the game? Ultimately, the men from the East Coast couldn't care less.

Newcastle United
Fulham FC

Brighton & Hove Albion

5:31 PM Manchester United are on top after their derby victory over Liverpool. Brighton now visits Old Trafford. Will they secure a third win in a row?

Chelsea FC
AFC Sunderland

64' Roefs comes out of the box and, after receiving the ball, also hits Cucurella. The Spaniard is down and needs treatment. Since the goalkeeper had the ball first, the action is not punishable.

60' The young Brazilian takes a direct shot. The effort is deflected decisively by Geertruida in the center of the box. Acheampong had previously made a desperate save at the other end.

Newcastle United
Fulham FC

45' Newcastle United deservedly led Fulham 1-0 at halftime. The Magpies started the game dominantly, hitting the post twice in the opening minutes through Woltemade and Murphy. The latter eventually scored the only goal so far, courtesy of Bassey, thanks in part to several strong saves from Leno.

44' Chalobah fires a powerful shot that Roefs deflects over the crossbar. The visitors also pose a threat from distance.

40' Roefs prevents the 1-2! A corner is extended to the far post, where Garnacho has a clear shot from the six-yard box. From a slightly tight angle, he doesn't place his shot optimally, allowing the goalkeeper to parry it.

37' Joao Pedro is hit in the neck by Geertruida while off-ball and calls for a penalty. The referee briefly consults with VAR, then play continues.

3:51 p.m. The referee in London is FIFA referee Andrew Madley from Huddersfield. The 42-year-old, who works as a teacher outside of football, has been among the national elite for years and has already officiated 115 Premier League matches.

3:20 PM Sunderland and coach Regis Le Bris, meanwhile, beat bottom-placed Wolverhampton 2-0 and make two changes: Alderete and Rigg make way for Reinildo and Geertruida. It looks like a compact 5-4-1 formation.

3:14 PM During the week, Enzo Maresca's charges celebrated a 5-1 thrashing against an early-depleted Ajax. However, there are eight changes today compared to the goal-fest. Only Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, and Guiu are back in the starting eleven.

Newcastle United
Fulham FC

3:00 PM As successful as the Premier League season has been for Nick Woltemade personally – since joining the club, the international has already celebrated four goals in five matches – it has been just as unsuccessful for Newcastle United. After finishing fifth last season, the Magpies currently find themselves in 15th place. They are now looking to secure their third win of the current Premier League season against Fulham FC, starting at 4:00 PM.
