Seifert was the first Swiss all-around athlete to win a World Championship medal since 1950. The last Swiss athletes to achieve this feat were Walter Lehmann and Marcel Adette. The duo even took home all-around gold (Lehmann) and silver at the home World Championships in Basel.
Seifert thus achieved his "rehabilitation" for the European Championships in Leipzig in May at the season's highlight, where he advanced to the all-around final as the best gymnast in the qualification, but ultimately only finished sixth. He lost bronze on a dismount from the last apparatus.
With Florian Langenegger (10th), a second Swiss all-around athlete placed in the top 10 in the capital of Indonesia. An undertaking that no Swiss athlete had achieved at a World Championship in the previous 75 years.
Japan's Daiki Hashimoto secured gold in Jakarta. The 2021 Olympic champion scored 85.131 points, beating China's Zhang Boheng by just under eight-tenths. Seifert's 82.831 points—a strong result for him—was enough for third place. Langenegger finished with 79.599 points.
