At the Denmark match, DFB women send a big gesture to the injured captain

After the captain of the German national team, Giulia Gwinn, was no longer available for the rest of the tournament due to a knee injury after the first European Championship match, her team members prepared a greeting for her.
The German women's national team won their first match against Poland, thanks in part to the efforts of captain Giulia Gwinn. However, she sustained a knee injury and will therefore miss any remaining matches of the European Championship.
On Tuesday evening, the German national team took to the field against Denmark without Gwinn. Janina Minge became the new captain . Sjoeke Nüsken and Lea Schüller scored two goals, and the German team won the match 2-1 . In their celebrations, the DFB women immediately remembered their injured teammate: All players wore wristbands with the inscription "GG7" – for Giulia Gwinn's name and jersey number – and pointed to her after the goal.
Laura Freigang told SID after the game: "These are simply small gestures, but they mean a lot to her. They also give us strength."
Kathrin Hendrich explained: "This is easy for Giuli. I think it's a nice gesture and simply a sign that we're playing for her. That she's always with us, even if she's not physically present right now."
Gwinn himself watched the game and reacted touched on Instagram.

The German national team's next match is on Saturday, when they face Sweden. ZDF will broadcast the final group match live.
