Media: VfL Wolfsburg signs Danish star Christian Eriksen

VfL Wolfsburg is apparently on the verge of a spectacular signing: According to information from the Danish sports magazine "Tipsbladet," Christian Eriksen is currently undergoing a medical at the Lower Saxony Bundesliga club.

According to "Tipsbladet," it's just a matter of "formalities that need to be taken care of." The 33-year-old Danish international, who has been without a club since the end of his contract with Manchester United in the summer, flew from Odense to Braunschweig on Wednesday, the magazine writes. From there, he then traveled to VfL Wolfsburg. Kicker stated that this corresponds with its own information.

Eriksen has been keeping fit at Malmö FF in recent weeks. The Bundesliga would be the fourth top international league of his career for the five-time Danish Footballer of the Year. In Wolfsburg, the attacking midfielder would join fellow countryman Peter Christiansen as sporting director. The Dane, who collapsed without any external influence during Denmark's first group match against Finland at the 2021 European Championship, made 35 competitive appearances for Manchester United last season. He was not in the squad for Denmark's World Cup qualifiers against Scotland (0-0) and Greece (3-0).
