Neuer's saves, Müller's emotions - the eleven of the matchday

The matchday was emotionally dominated by FC Bayern and its veteran players, and accordingly, two Munich players made it into the Sportschau eleven of the 33rd matchday.
Goalkeeper - Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich): After nearly two months out injured, the now 39-year-old showed with strong saves that he's still the number one in Bayern's goal. "It was important to stand up for myself," said Neuer. Achieving a reasonable result was important for Thomas Müller's last home game and for the presentation of the trophy. It was also strong of Neuer to hand the trophy to Müller during the presentation after his last home game.
Defense - Daniel Svensson (Borussia Dortmund): A permanent signing of the Swede in the summer is likely a mere formality. Svensson also tirelessly toiled down the left wing in Leverkusen (12.2 kilometers covered, 30 sprints, 20 tackles). Naturally, he struggled against Frimpong, but the 23-year-old persisted and became increasingly more stable.
Defense - Amos Pieper (Werder Bremen): In Bremen's three-man defense, Pieper kept a tight rein on the otherwise attacking Leipzig. There was no getting past the high balls, especially. And then Pieper also got involved going forward, having a total of three shots on goal – including a header from a promising position in the 23rd minute.
Defense - Manolis Saliakas (FC St. Pauli): After four minutes of the match against Eintracht Frankfurt, St. Pauli's right-back turned in celebration. After a pass from Morgan Guilavogui, he smoothly lifted the ball into the left corner from 14 meters. A dream goal for the early equalizer, which brought St. Pauli into the game. The Hamburg team then defended with their usual compact and tactically sophisticated style. Saliakas stood out with his tactical finesse and tackling prowess.
Midfield - Adrian Beck (1. FC Heidenheim): Heidenheim's match winner in the match against Union Berlin – and a key factor in Heidenheim's at least securing a place in the relegation play-offs. Beck also scored in the first leg win against Union – three of his four goals this season have come against the Berlin side.
Midfield - Thomas Müller (Bayern Munich): Okay, in his last home game in a Bayern Munich jersey, Müller certainly didn't shine with a gala sporting performance. The match was far too much of an exhibition game without any real sporting significance. But Müller was still the star of the match before, during, and after the game. His contribution alone was enthusiastically celebrated by the fans until his substitution in the 84th minute.
Midfield - Pascal Groß (Borussia Dortmund): The clever midfielder got BVB back on track in their away win at Leverkusen. Groß set up the equalizer and made it 2-1. In the second half, he did a lot of work for a more compact Dortmund side, playing a key role in the 4-2 victory.
Midfield - Paul Nebel (1. FSV Mainz 05): The 22-year-old is having an outstanding season for Mainz. The Hesse native's quality was once again on display in Bochum. Lightning-fast off the mark, elegant ball control, and a constant threat. Bochum's energetic midfielders were never able to contain him. To cap it all, Nebel himself sealed the game with a 4-1 goal in the closing stages.
Attack - Morgan Guilavogui (FC St. Pauli): The 27-year-old Frenchman, who is on loan at FC St. Pauli this season, often struggles as a lone wolf in Hamburg's attack. However, he has now internalized his role and causes numerous problems for opposing defenses with his speed and goal threat. On Sunday, he also faced Eintracht Frankfurt. They couldn't contain the Frenchman, especially in the first half. Guilavogui scored one goal himself and provided the assist for the second. Strong performance.
Attack - Jonathan Burkardt (1. FSV Mainz 05): "Difference maker" – that's what people like Jonny Burkardt like to call themselves. And not without reason. Where VfL Bochum's attacking quality once again lacked on Saturday, Mainz 05's agile center forward embodied it. Burkardt was available up front, moved out wide, and even picked up the ball in midfield. And he scored a beautiful goal to make it 3-0.
Attack - Karim Adeyemi (Borussia Dortmund): Like almost the entire BVB team, Adeyemi was sidelined for half an hour in Leverkusen. Then the speedy dribbler (34.5 km/h top speed) turned up the heat. Before the 1-1, he made a perfect run into the deep and set up the goal. No one could keep up with Adeyemi for the decisive 3-1 either. Four goals and three assists in his last seven games speak volumes.
