In front of their home crowd at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart on Sunday, June 8, 2025, the German national team aims to bid a fitting farewell to a successful 2024/25 international season, in which they remained unbeaten in eight matches. France awaits in the match for third place. Referee Ivan Kruzliak of Slovakia will kick off the match at 3 p.m.
DFB squanders title chance in five minutesLess than twelve months after the European Championship on home soil, the euphoria of the home tournament was supposed to be revived in Munich last Wednesday – but this only partially succeeded. Plagued by numerous absences – including Jamal Musiala, Antonio Rüdiger, and Nico Schlotterbeck – national coach Julian Nagelsmann's team was unable to build on the performances of recent months.
The German national team was at times harmless in attack, but too porous in defense. Ultimately, the Portuguese team won 2-1 , deservedly turning the game around thanks to goals from substitute Francisco Conceicao and veteran Cristiano Ronaldo within five minutes.
