The stipulation comes right at the beginning: No questions for Nick Woltemade about Bayern. It's supposed to be about the European Championship final. Nevertheless, the question is followed up.

Nevertheless, Woltemade was asked what the headlines would do to him so close to the final. "I'm really looking forward to the final," the striker replied. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. "This will be my last U21 game."

Di Salvo, at least in his choice of words, was clearer: "We have one game ahead of us and we have 23 players. I'm concerned about 23 players and the final, and I don't care about anything else, I really don't care."

The day before, reports from "Bild" and broadcaster Sky had emerged that Woltemade had already agreed to a transfer with FC Bayern Munich. He would receive a contract with the German record champions until the end of June 2030, and Bayern would negotiate with Stuttgart about Woltemade's transfer.

Bayern Munich's club president Herbert Hainer was reserved about the reports of a possible transfer. "He's having a very, very good season. But whether he'll play for Bayern is anyone's guess," Hainer said on the sidelines of his Munich team's basketball final against ratiopharm Ulm.

"I can't tell you anything about that," Hainer said when asked about the reports. "I can only say that Nick Woltemade has developed well at VfB Stuttgart, and we, as Germany fans, are happy that he's playing for the U21s and scoring so many goals."

The Munich team had fueled transfer rumors surrounding Woltemade on the sidelines of the Club World Cup. "Nick is playing very well, is in really good form. He's a young German player who's very, very interesting," said Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund.
