Germany's viewing platforms and suspension bridges alone offer pure thrills – and often close at hand: From the country's longest suspension bridge in the Sauerland region to treetop walkways with Alpine views in the Allgäu region. These structures are not only architecturally fascinating, but also popular destinations for families, hikers, and adventure seekers. They unfold their full potential, especially at lofty heights: panoramic views, nature experiences, and an adrenaline rush included.

  • Skywalk Willingen : At 665 meters long and 100 meters high, it is currently Germany's longest suspension bridge. Open since 2023, it's a must-see for all the brave in the Sauerland region.
  • Skywalk Allgäu (Scheidegg): A 540-meter-long, barrier-free treetop walkway with views of the Alps and Lake Constance. Ideal for families, it also features adventure stations.
  • Geierlay Suspension Bridge (Mörsdorf): One of the most popular suspension bridges in Germany – 360 meters long and 100 meters high, embedded in the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig.
  • AlpspiX viewing platform (Garmisch-Partenkirchen): X-shaped steel structure above the Höllental valley, with a view of the Zugspitze.

The following selection showcases the diversity and fascination of skywalks and observation platforms around the world. Whether in Germany or internationally, all of the structures presented here offer unique perspectives and unforgettable experiences for anyone seeking adventure at height without having to be a mountaineer.

Five finger-like walkways extend over a 400-meter-deep abyss and offer various experiences, including a glass floor and a photo frame for souvenir photos. The platform is accessible via a 30- to 40-minute hike from the Krippenstein cable car mountain station.

The Skywalk towers over a 250-meter-high vertical cliff and offers panoramic views of the Alps. The "Stairway to Nothingness" leads up 14 steps to a glass platform at a dizzying height.

Europe's highest suspension bridge, at 3,041 meters above sea level, stretches over 100 meters and offers views into a 500-meter-deep abyss. Access is via the Titlis Rotair cable car.

The horseshoe-shaped glass and steel platform rises 21 meters above the rim of Grand Canyon West and offers views of the Colorado River 1,100 meters below. It opened on March 20, 2007.

A 280-meter-high, semicircular glass platform offers impressive views over the Sunwapta Valley in Jasper National Park. Interactive exhibits along the trail provide information about the local wildlife.

Three glass skywalks, including the 100-meter-long "Coiling Dragon Cliff," offer breathtaking views at a height of 1,430 meters. The Panlongya Skywalk opened on August 1, 2018.

This skywalk stretches 26 meters over a deep gorge in the Longgang Geopark. Equipped with a glass floor, it offers breathtaking views of the depths and the surrounding karst landscape.

The 125-meter-long, curved pedestrian bridge at a height of 700 meters offers panoramic views of the Andaman Sea. The bridge was completed in 2005 and is accessible via a cable car.

The 30-meter-long platform at a height of 650 meters offers impressive views over the Aurlandsfjord. The end of the platform is protected by a glass panel, giving the impression of floating above the fjord.

At an altitude of 1,500 meters, the Geiranger Skywalk offers unparalleled views of the UNESCO World Heritage Geirangerfjord, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and the Blåbreen glacier. The platform features a mesh floor and a glass railing that creates the impression of floating above the abyss. Access is via the Nibbevegen toll road, open from May to September.

Located within Biokovo Nature Park, the Biokovo Skywalk towers 1,228 meters above the mountain's cliffs. The horseshoe-shaped platform with a glass floor offers spectacular views of the Adriatic coast and, on a clear day, even as far as Italy.

Although not a classic skywalk, the museum, designed by Zaha Hadid, offers impressive views of the Dolomites at an altitude of 2,275 meters. The museum's architecture integrates seamlessly into the mountain landscape, offering visitors a unique perspective.
