The National Police have arrested a 45-year-old man in Vigo for setting fire to his ex-partner's home in the town of Tomiño , in the south of the province of Pontevedra, while both she and her adult daughter were inside.
The incident, according to sources close to the investigation, occurred late Tuesday afternoon in the parish of Santa María de Pinzás. The detained man's ex-partner , a 51-year-old woman, raised the alarm.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the two women nervous but in good physical condition. They had extinguished the flames themselves with a rug.
Messages with death threatsBoth women stated that the man had sent messages containing death threats before showing up at the house and setting it on fire, after which he fled. The National Police located him at his mother's house in the Vigo parish of Beade, where he was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of gender-based violence.
