Called up: two Belgrano players, the return of Gramaglia and a surprising name
The women's national team is preparing for the Copa América, which kicks off on July 12, and before that, they will have a challenging double-header of friendlies against Australia.
For this match, coach Germán Portanova presented a roster with many new players, but one stood out above the rest.
And on the roster is Córdoba native Florencia Bonsegundo, who announced her retirement from the Albiceleste two years ago after the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. There, she tore her cruciate ligaments and never wore the Albiceleste jersey again.
She's now one of the bright names on the list, which also boasts the return of another Cordoban, Paulina Gramaglia. The former Talleres forward recovered from an ankle problem that kept her out for a long time and returned to scoring goals in Brazil.
Also present are Belgrano soccer players Romina Núñez and Milagros Vargas.
The first match against Australia will be on Friday, May 30, starting at 7:10 a.m. at Marvel Stadium (Melbourne). The return match will be on Monday, June 2, starting at 6:30 a.m. at GIO Stadium (Canberra).
