Iran denies Trump's claims and warns that it has not requested any meeting with the US to discuss its nuclear program.

Iran denies Trump's claims and warns that it has not requested any meeting with the US to discuss its nuclear program.
The Iranian government said Tuesday that it has not requested any meetings with the United States to resume negotiations that were interrupted by the 12-day war, in which Israel and US forces attacked Iran's nuclear facilities.
"No request for a meeting has been submitted to the US side from our side," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei said, according to the state news agency IRNA.
The statement comes after US President Donald Trump said on Monday that new talks between his administration and Iran are planned.

“We have talks scheduled with Iran. They want to talk. I think they took a beating when we hit those three sites ,” Trump told reporters at the start of a dinner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.
Trump's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, who was at the same table, indicated that such talks could begin as early as next week.
Since April 12, Iran and the United States have held five rounds of indirect negotiations, hosted by Oman and held between Muscat and Rome, to negotiate an agreement on Iran's nuclear program.

The meetings took place amid sharp differences between Washington's demands for a complete shutdown of Iran's nuclear program and Tehran's demand for the continuation of its civilian nuclear program, and the constant threat of Israel, which finally launched an attack on Iran in the early hours of June 13.
The United States joined the offensive on June 22, bombing the nuclear facilities of Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan , and after that attack the parties agreed to a ceasefire that put an end to a war in which more than 1,000 people died in Iran and 28 in Israel.
As a result of this conflict, the talks that Washington and Tehran had begun in April broke down.

On Tuesday, the Iranian press criticized President Masoud Pezeshkian for saying in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, a close associate of Donald Trump, that he "has no problem" resuming talks with Washington.
"Have you forgotten that these same Americans, along with the Zionists (Israel), used the negotiations to buy time and prepare for the attack?" wrote the Kayhan daily, known for its hostility toward the West and its opposition to negotiations on Iran's nuclear program, in an editorial.

For its part, the conservative daily Javan condemned the president's "overly soft and friendly" remarks toward the United States.
"The true meaning of a conversation with an American talk show host is conveyed when the words convey the audience's anger and total distrust of the United States," the newspaper wrote.
