Isaac Paredes reaches 80 home runs in MLB

Sonoran Isaac Paredes once again demonstrated his power with the bat , but not even his second home run in the last three games prevented the Houston Astros from losing, as they fell 3-2 to the Tampa Bay Rays .

The Sonoran went 1-for-4 with his eighth home run of the season and the 80th of his major league career . It was a solo shot in the third inning that made it 2-0 in Houston's favor.

With that home run, Paredes, 26 , became the youngest Mexican-born player to reach 80 home runs in Major League Baseball (MLB) , surpassing Vinicio Castilla , who reached that milestone at age 28. The infielder is batting .264 and has 25 RBIs, the most on his team.

The home run also tied him with legendary Veracruz native Beto Ávila for fifth place all time.

The Rays ' comeback came in the eighth inning, when Tijuana native Jonathan Aranda hit a bases-loaded single that tied the game at 2-2.

Aranda reached 23 RBIs and, after going 1-for-3 with a walk, put his batting average at .310, the best on his team and sixth in the American League.

A day after taking the loss, Yucatecan Manuel Rodríguez got revenge : he took the mound in that same eighth inning, allowed a single to start, but then retired the next three batters, including Paredes with a fly ball to right field that ended the threat.

The game was decided in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Taylor Walls , and Rodriguez earned his first win of the year. His ERA dropped to 2.42 after 23 appearances this season.

Despite the loss, the Astros remain 2.5 games behind the Seattle Mariners , leaders of their division.

FOUR VICTIMS ARE MISSING FOR THE MEXICAN

With his home run against the Tampa Bay Rays, Isaac Paredes has shared his 80th major league home run against 26 teams . Tampa Bay, where he played for three years, was one of the five he had yet to hit.

The only teams yet to allow a home run from the Sonoran are the Chicago Cubs , Arizona Diamondbacks , Milwaukee Brewers , and Cincinnati Reds . He can still knock the Cubs and Arizona off the list this year.

In his first major league start in a year, Adrian Houser pitched six scoreless innings and the Chicago White Sox beat the Seattle Mariners 1-0 , snapping a five-game losing streak.

Joshua Palacios went 2-for-3 with one RBI and Randy Arozarena went 0-for-4 for Seattle.
