Lizard walks along the San Felipe boardwalk; Río Lagartos reports slight flooding

RÍO LAGARTOS.- The cold front that entered Yucatán on Monday afternoon caused some damage on the eastern coast, mainly in Río Lagartos and San Felipe where the river water exceeded the level of the seawall .
Since 6 pm, in Río Lagartos it was already noticeable that the water had already covered the street of the boardwalk and little by little it was advancing until it reached the houses in that area.
At night, the level rose further and began to raise concerns of possible flooding, however, this did not happen and little by little the water returned to its course during the early morning and at dawn the street was free of flooding.
Authorities reported that no damage was reported to homes or boats, as the effects were minimal , meaning they were minor floods.

Meanwhile, in San Felipe, the flooding caused a lizard to leave its lair and wander through the streets surrounding the boardwalk, where it was captured by several locals who shared videos and photographs .
Some children even played near the animal, trying not to attack it so that it could continue on its way without causing any harm, and it remained that way for quite a while.

No authority confirmed whether the lizard was caught to keep it away from the inhabited area or whether it returned to the place from which it came taking advantage of the fact that the water level rose in the early hours of the night .
In San Felipe, fishermen also had no damage to their boats due to the pounding of more waves caused by strong winds .
