The student society of the Faculty of Earth Sciences is renewed.

In a ceremony presided over by Rector Santos Guzmán López, the Faculty of Earth Sciences swore in the new student society, which will represent the department's students from 2024 to 2025.
The institution's director, Ángel García Peña, highlighted the importance of this group as catalysts for change and fostering a university environment that challenges them not only to become better professionals, but also better people.
He emphasized that the governing board is a student platform that allows its members and the university community to participate in the activities proposed by the Student Activities Directorate (DAE), led by Rolando Hernández Salazar, as an essential pillar in promoting projects and activities that strengthen the sense of belonging to university life.
The transition of the student society also represents an opportunity to consolidate the continuity of projects that have left their mark on the university community. Initiatives such as academic conferences, integration activities, outreach activities with the professional sector, and student well-being initiatives have been part of the legacy that the new members will seek to strengthen.
“Through the student society, students from across our entire university, and particularly from our faculty, have active participation and representation, supported by the invaluable vision and guidance of our Rector,” said Ángel García Peña, Director of the Faculty of Earth Sciences.
The director noted that the faculty has established itself, through its governing board, as a bridge between students and university authorities, promoting spaces for dialogue, shared responsibility, and leadership.
This organizational structure aligns with the institutional vision of developing socially conscious leaders who are committed to their community and prepared for global challenges.
Jeremyas Santiago Cancino, student advisor of the outgoing student body, offered a farewell message in which he noted that this experience transformed him not only academically but also personally.
"It was an experience that transformed me, that made me grow, that taught me to look beyond myself and to work for others. Being a counselor meant being a voice, a source, a listener, but also an action, an embrace, and hope," he concluded.
She also wished the best of luck to Yazmín Galván Landeros and Juliana Martínez Valadez, who took over as student councilor and student body president, respectively.
