Actress Claudia Cardinale , an icon of Italian cinema , died Tuesday at the age of 87 in the Île-de-France region, which includes Paris, French media reported.
Born in Tunisia (1939) , when it was still a French protectorate, to Sicilian parents, she is considered one of the greatest actresses of European cinema . Throughout her career, she worked with directors such as Sergio Leone, Mario Monicelli, Pasquale Squitieri, Luchino Visconti, Richard Brooks, Franco Zeffirelli, and Federico Fellini.
Cardinale appeared in legendary films such as 'The Leopard', '8½', 'The Pink Panther', 'Mussolini's Lover', and 'The Oil Workers' alongside Brigitte Bardot.
