Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo will remain with Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr FC for at least two more seasons, until 2027, the club has announced.

"Al Nassr chairman Musalli al-Muammar signed a historic contract with football star Cristiano Ronaldo, extending until 2025," the Saudi club added in a statement, adding that the player will continue to wear the number 7.

Cristiano Ronaldo, 40, joined the Saudi club on December 30, 2022, from Manchester United, where he spent a second spell with the English club. Al Muammar stated that this "agreement goes beyond writing a new chapter in history," calling Ronaldo "a role model for all athletes and young people around the world."

"With him at Al Nassr, we will move toward greater success for the club, Saudi sport, and future generations," said the club president. "Al Nassr's vision is very inspiring, and I'm excited to join my teammates. Together, we will help the team achieve even greater success."

Although the Saudi team hasn't provided further details about his contract, the former Real Madrid player's renewal has quelled rumors about his departure from Al Nassr.

Ronaldo's contract extension comes one day after the Saudi Arabian club announced that Italian Stefano Pioli was stepping down as its manager after a year in charge of the Riyadh club.

Pioli fell short of the Riyadh club's expectations, finishing third in the Saudi Arabian league, thirteen points behind Al Ittihad, captained by French striker Karim Benzema, and failing to qualify for next season's Asian Champions League.

Calculations

According to The Sun, the deal includes a total sum of at least 492 million pounds over two years ($676 million), in addition to bonuses and exclusive privileges.

Ronaldo's annual salary is estimated at £178 million ($244.57 million), which equates to a daily income of around £488,000 ($670,000).
