According to Feng Shui , the kitchen is one of the most important spaces in the home , as it represents the health, abundance, and sustenance of those who live there. This space is directly related to the fire element, a symbol of vitality and energy , and is considered the heart of the home. How should this space be arranged for good luck?

According to "Hola" and "El Mueble" magazines, one of the basic principles of Feng Shui in the kitchen is to allow for proper circulation of energy (or chi). To this end , it's important that the cook not work with their back to the entrance door , as this can create a feeling of vulnerability. If rearranging the furniture isn't possible, it's recommended to place a mirror so you can see who's entering.

It is also essential to avoid conflicts between opposing elements, such as fire (stove or oven) and water (sink or dishwasher), as this combination can generate conflicts and block energy.

If they cannot be separated, it is suggested to place a wooden element between them—such as a cutting board, ladles, or decorative accessories—to harmonize the forces.

From a Feng Shui perspective, it is also advisable not to place the cooking area under a window , as this can weaken the symbolic fire and cause energy leaks.

The ideal orientation for the kitchen is south, and it should not be facing the bathroom door, which, according to this philosophy, would weaken the home's vital energy.

Colors, order and small gestures that make a difference

In terms of color, Feng Shui recommends avoiding all-white, black, or red kitchens. Warm tones, such as wood finishes or earth tones, help balance the fire element that predominates in this room. Likewise, the use of fruit, aromatic plants in the window, and natural elements as decoration also contribute to attracting good energy. In turn, order and cleanliness are fundamental pillars of this discipline. Keeping surfaces clear, food fresh, and every object in its place allows energy to flow freely. Finally, encouraging conviviality in the kitchen is another key point of Feng Shui. In this sense, creating a small space for sharing not only strengthens family ties but also enhances the main purpose of this room: nourishing body, mind, and soul.

Why is the kitchen so important for Feng Shui?

Feng shui, an ancient Chinese practice based on balancing environmental energies, has gained significant prominence in the Western world in recent years.

Therefore, the kitchen is one of the most important spaces in the home, as it represents the health, abundance, and sustenance of those who live there.

This environment is directly related to the element of fire, a symbol of vitality and energy, and is considered the heart of the home for its ability to nourish both physically and emotionally. Furthermore, the kitchen is not only the place where food is prepared, but also a meeting place for family connection. For this reason, its layout, cleanliness, and harmony directly influence the overall well-being, economic prosperity, and personal relationships of those living in the home.
