A blow to the wallet: bus fares connecting CABA with the metropolitan area increase by 21.52%.

The national government approved a new 21.52% increase in bus fares within national jurisdiction operating in CABA and also in the province of Buenos Aires ( AMBA ). The adjustment was made official through Resolution 28/2025 published this Thursday in the Official Gazette and will impact more than 100 lines connecting the city with different points in the metropolitan area.
The increase will be phased in to try to cushion its impact on people's pockets. The first installment, of approximately 7%, will take effect this Friday, May 23rd. Subsequent increases will be implemented in June and July, bringing the total to 21.52%. The government explained that the decision was based on the evolution of the Consumer Price Index ( CPI ) in the Greater Buenos Aires region.
The lines that will have an increase in their tickets are: 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 15, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 28, 29, 31, 32, 33, 37, 41, 45, 46, 49, 51, 53, 55, 56, 57, 59, 60, 63, 67, 70, 71, 74, 75, 78, 79, 80, 85, 86, 87, 88, 91, 92, 93, 95, 96, 97, 98, 100, 101, 103, 105, 110, 111, 113, 114, 117, 119, 123, 124, 126, 127, 128, 129, 130, 133, 134, 135, 136, 140, 143, 145, 146, 148, 150, 152, 153, 154, 158, 159, 160, 161, 163, 164, 166, 168, 169, 172, 174, 176, 177, 178, 179, 180, 181, 182, 184, 185, 188, 193, 194, 195.
According to the Ministry of Transportation, the last time these fares were adjusted was in August 2024. Since then, the gap with buses in the Province and the City of Buenos Aires has widened, exceeding 10%. The official report stated that the new scheme "responds to the need to align system costs and ensure its sustainability."
The increase will apply to suburban lines in groups I and II. For example, starting this Friday, on group I (which connects CABA with the first and second ring roads of the metropolitan area), the minimum fare (from 0 to 3 km) will cost $397.11 with a registered SUBE card. On group II, which covers longer distances such as CABA-La Plata or CABA-Zárate, the minimum will be $522.46.
Starting June 18, the same ticket will cost $424.91 in Group I and $559.03 in Group II. Finally, on July 16, it will reach $451.01 and $593.37 respectively, always with a nominal SUBE card. Those without a registered card will pay more—in some cases, almost double.
