The Dian has already restored its services and explained the deadlines for taxpayer commitments.

The Dian has already restored its services and explained the deadlines for taxpayer commitments.
The National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN) officially announced the restoration of its IT services.
The entity indicated that these services, essential for completing and submitting tax returns and customs procedures, are now operating normally.
The system outage began on May 13, forcing the entity to declare a temporary contingency under Article 579-2 of the Tax Code and Article 27 of Decree 1165 of 2019. The measure was supported and regulated by Resolution 46 of 2019, specifically its Articles 2, 202, 356, and 526-6.
Given the technical contingency, the DIAN reported that taxpayers with tax obligations due between May 12 and 23, 2025, will be able to file their tax returns and make the corresponding payments until Monday, May 26, at 11:59 p.m., without incurring penalties or interest.
The institution specified that this extension applies only to commitments that were due during the technical contingency period. Once this period is over, the deadlines will return to their regular fiscal calendar.

The system downtime affected both individual users and businesses, who were unable to complete tax procedures such as filing tax returns, paying taxes, and completing customs procedures.
During the contingency, various voices in the accounting and business sectors expressed concern about the inability to access services.
In particular, Christian Junot Quiñonez Cortés, former deputy director of inspection at the Dian and current partner at CleverTax, noted that these incidents are common during periods of high traffic on the platform.
“Like every year, there come times when accountants can't meet their tax obligations because the DIAN platform doesn't have the capacity to receive all the returns at the same time. On one side, we have taxpayers and accountants with their anguish , and on the other, DIAN officials who can't perform their duties ,” Quiñonez stated.
In the face of criticism and pressure from accounting associations and system users, the director general of the Dian, Luis Eduardo Llinás, stated that the entity's technical team, along with external experts, worked uninterruptedly for seven days to diagnose the source of the failure and implement the appropriate corrections.
"Our services have been fully restored; our technical team, along with external experts, worked nonstop for a week to diagnose the source of the outage and implement the necessary solutions," said Director Llinás.
The Dian (National Highway Administration) did not specify the technical details of the failure, but indicated that measures have already been taken to ensure the platform's stability. The agency also reiterated its commitment to preventive maintenance and technological modernization of its infrastructure.

In addition to the restoration of services, the DIAN has announced changes to the schedule for submitting exogenous information for the 2024 tax year. This information is required from individuals and legal entities for tax audit and control purposes.
The new deadlines will be announced through updated resolutions, which will be available on the official DIAN website. The agency has encouraged taxpayers to stay informed through its digital channels and to regularly check their tax inbox.
During the contingency and after its lifting, the Dian reiterated that its citizen service channels remain operational. Taxpayers can access guidance through Virtual Service Centers (CAV) , as well as by phone and in physical offices, during the hours stipulated by the agency.
The Dian reminded users that, if they experience persistent technical errors or difficulties accessing the platform, they can register their requests and complaints through the petitions, complaints, claims, and suggestions (PQRS) system available on its website.
