The National Institute of Statistics and Census ( INDEC ) reported that April inflation was 2.8% nationwide. The cumulative CPI for the year to date reached 11.6% , while the year-on-year increase reached 47.3% .

The division with the largest monthly increase was "Restaurants and Hotels," with a 4.1% increase, driven by increases in food and beverages consumed outside the home. "Recreation and Culture" followed with a 4% increase, primarily due to increases in recreational and cultural services.

Although it did not lead the ranking of increases, the "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" division was the one that had the greatest weight in the general index, with a rise of 2.9% , due to increases in meat and derivatives, milk, dairy products, eggs, bread and cereals .

Among the divisions with the smallest variations were "Transportation" (1.7%) and "Home Equipment and Maintenance" (0.9%). At the category level, goods and services in the Core CPI registered the largest increase ( 3.2% ), above seasonal prices (1.9%) and regulated prices (1.8%).

The region with the greatest increase was Cuyo , with a monthly increase of 2.9% , while Patagonia and GBA were at the national average with 2.7% and 2.8% respectively.

Among the products surveyed in the report, the average price of French bread was $3,415, while a liter of whole milk in a sachet reached $1,536. Regular ground beef cost $6,640 per kilo, and a dozen eggs averaged $3,928.

This INDEC report comes amid a slowdown compared to the previous year's inflationary peaks, but with a strong impact on food and consumer goods, which continues to affect the purchasing power of Argentine households.
