When are pensions paid in August? CaixaBank, Santander, ING, BBVA, and other banks are paying out.

Just as workers receive their paychecks at the end of each month, pensioners also eagerly await the payment of their benefits . According to the most recent data from the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration, more than 10.3 million contributory pensions will have been paid by 2025, representing a significant annual increase of 2.8% .

Pension revaluation in 2025

The government approved that, starting January 1, 2025, contributory and pension schemes would increase by 2.8%. In addition, minimum pensions would increase by around 6% , while non-contributory pensions would increase by 9% . According to government estimates, a pensioner who earned €1,441 per month (average retirement in 2024) will now receive approximately €35-40 more per month, i.e., an annual increase of around €600.

When will the August 2025 pension be paid?

Officially, Social Security makes payments in arrears on the first business day of the month, between the 1st and 4th of each month . However, thanks to the Centralized Single Account mechanism, many banks offer advance payments. In August 2025, pensions are expected to be available between August 21st and 25th , depending on the institution.

Pension payment date in August, according to the entity
  • Bankinter, EVO and Unicaja: Thursday, August 21

  • Santander: Friday, August 22

  • CaixaBank: Sunday, August 24 (business day used by the bank)

  • BBVA, ING, Abanca, Sabadell, Ibercaja, Kutxabank: Monday, August 25

  • PiBank: Monday, September 1

August is a month of high spending, so having the money available before the beginning of September is crucial for many pensioners. That's why banks offer early payments as an additional service to the community.

However, if the payment hasn't arrived by September 4th, it's advisable to contact your bank . If everything is fine and there's still no payment, you should file a claim with Social Security, either at the CAISS (National Insurance Institute) or via its online office.
