Will Chevrolet raise prices in Colombia after relocating to the U.S.? This is the company's response.

Following General Motors' (GM) announcement that it would partially relocate production of the Chevrolet Blazer and Equinox models from Mexico to plants in the United States starting in 2027, questions have arisen in various markets, including Colombia, regarding a possible price increase for these vehicles.
In response to these questions, Chevrolet Colombia responded that it does not expect a price increase in the country as a direct consequence of this decision, as production in Mexico will continue to operate in parallel.
The company explained that this is a global reorganization aimed at improving operational efficiency and strengthening the supply chain.
"It's worth noting that both vehicles will continue to be produced in Mexico. The priority is to continue offering high-quality vehicles with the best value for our customers," General Motors stated.

The move is part of a $4 billion investment plan GM will allocate to its plants in Michigan, Kansas, and Tennessee, where electric and combustion versions of its SUVs will be assembled.
The Fairfax, Kansas plant will manufacture the gasoline-powered Chevrolet Equinox and the new Bolt EV.
Spring Hill, Tennessee will produce the Chevrolet Blazer and some Cadillac models.
Orion, Michigan, will be responsible for assembling large gasoline-powered pickup trucks.
The company clarified that this redesign does not imply changes to its commercial strategy for countries like Colombia, where Chevrolet maintains a leading sales position.

Concerns about a possible price increase stem from the political and trade context surrounding the decision. President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on automotive imports from Mexico and Canada, a measure that pressured manufacturers like GM to move some of their production to the United States.
Given the climate of industrial protectionism in the United States, GM is seeking to strengthen its domestic production base as a preventive measure.
"We will continue working to ensure that these models remain an attractive option for the Colombian market, delivering the quality, technology, and reliability that characterize us," the company stated.
