How many daily consultations does the IMSS offer to beneficiaries?The IMSS's primary health care units (UFMs) offer a full range of medical services designed to protect the health of their beneficiaries through timely, systematic, effective, efficient, and safe actions, stated Dr. Ernesto Krug Llamas, Primary Care Coordinator.
He explained that Social Security has more than 1,500 Primary Care Units across the country, providing nearly 380,000 consultations daily , primarily in family medicine, dentistry, occupational health, and ongoing medical care, as well as for the management of chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and acute illnesses such as respiratory infections.
Krug Llamas added that at the three levels of care, IMSS medical units provide approximately 500,000 visits per day, 81 percent of which are resolved in family medicine consultations , where medical and nursing staff offer health promotion and education, prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation services.
