Carolina Mejía reaffirms her role as guarantor of PRM unity

"My actions demonstrate that I have been a guarantor of the PRM's unity ." With this statement, Carolina Mejía , secretary general of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), defended her career within the organization and her commitment to party cohesion during a meeting with activists from San Francisco de Macorís .
"The PRM members know, because they've seen me and counted on me before, now, and in the future ," said the secretary general of the governing party.
During her speech, Mejía briefly reviewed the main milestones of her political career within the PRM, a party she has served since its founding. She recalled her vice-presidential candidacy alongside Luis Abinader in 2016, her election as secretary general in 2018, and her ratification in that position in 2022. She also highlighted her election as mayor of the National District in 2020 and her reelection with 61.10% of the vote in 2024.
"And at that moment, my party asked me to take on the candidacy for mayor of the National District and, as a leader committed to the Perremeístas , to the PRM, to building power and to the country, in an obedient, responsible manner and with a heart full of love and commitment , I accepted the challenge and we achieved victory ," Carolina recalled about her candidacy in 2020.
Agenda in San FranciscoThe political leader began her day in San Francisco de Macorís , being received by a commission of senior PRM leaders in the Duarte province and the northeast region, including deputies Ariel Marte and Dorina Rodríguez, as well as Luis Ernesto Camilo, José López (Niño), Tony Núñez, Eduardo Mercedes, Danel Jerez and Darío Oleaga.
Later, he shared breakfast at the traditional Barra Moya restaurant with his team, and visited the bishop emeritus of the Diocese of San Francisco de Macorís , Monsignor Jesús María de Jesús Moya, with whom he spoke about the needs of the country and received his blessing .
He also met with Monsignor Ramón Alfredo de la Cruz, the current bishop of the diocese, and Father Isaac García de la Cruz, rector of the Universidad Católica Nordestana (UCNE), with whom he discussed development projects , including the promotion of religious tourism . Both religious leaders gave Mejía their blessing.
The day concluded with lunch with local business leaders and a closed-door meeting with leaders from the northeast , including Hernani Salazar, Hoblin Acosta, Jochy Antonio, Rafael Núñez, engineer José López (Niño), Samuel Estrella, Wandy Núñez, Carlos Montero, Lourdes Rodríguez, Evelin de la Cruz, among others.
