Claudia Sheinbaum holds morning press conference alone after CNTE blockade

This Wednesday, President Claudia Sheinbaum was forced to hold her traditional morning press conference at the National Palace without the presence of the media, after members of the National Education Coordinator (CNTE) blocked all access to the building.
From early in the morning, teachers from Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Michoacán set up a fence around the Palace, preventing reporters, staff from the Center for the Production of News and Special Programs (Cepropie), and the media team from entering. Due to this situation, the conference was broadcast solely through social media , with journalists participating via video call.
“This is the People's Morning Conference ,” Sheinbaum said from an alternate space, acknowledging the difficulties of access and defending the importance of maintaining dialogue with all sectors.
The National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) is holding an indefinite sit-in in the capital's Zócalo with several demands, including:
- The reinstatement of the national dialogue table with the federal government.
- The total repeal of the educational reform.
- Salary and labor improvements for teachers.
Union leaders warned that they will not leave until they are personally received by the president. Meanwhile, several teachers remain on strike across the country.
