The Government has again extended the intervention of Enacom until January of next year.

The Government has once again extended the intervention of Enacom , the entity in charge of controlling communications, as well as the appointment of Juan Martín Ozores as its intervener , with the rank and hierarchy of Secretary.

Decree 448/2025, published in the Official Gazette, establishes the period for both cases between July 8, 2025, and January 4, 2026.

Enacom had been intervened by the Government in January 2024 and the decision had been extended in July of that same year.

Among the arguments it mentioned on that occasion, the Government pointed out that, starting in December 2020, it verified that certain decisions made by the entity promoted open non-compliance with current legal provisions , leading to numerous legal disputes, as well as the issuance of measures contrary to the administrative acts issued.

One of the tasks assigned to Ozores was to review funds such as FOMECA and the Universal Service Fund, where funds were allocated to organizations linked to Peronism.

Now, the Government indicated that within "the process of reorganization and profound restructuring required by Enacom," it is necessary to "complete the audit, diagnostic, and survey tasks initiated , in order to have a comprehensive and substantive analysis of how the resources and structures were managed prior to the intervention."

The purpose of the extension, in short, is to "ensure the completion of ongoing tasks and the full implementation of planned measures."

Enacom is an autonomous agency under the Cabinet Office, whose objective is to guide the technological convergence process and create stable market conditions to guarantee all Argentines access to internet, landline and mobile telephony, radio, postal, and television services.

In parallel, it is responsible for implementing grant competitions that, among other projects, support technological upgrades, management improvements, and the production of audiovisual content for community radio stations, channels, and media producers.
