The Justice Department increases scholarships for judge and prosecutor positions to 15.6 million euros.

Today, the Minister of the Presidency, Justice, and Parliamentary Relations, Félix Bolaños, will promote an increase in scholarships for the judiciary and prosecutorial positions, the corps of judicial lawyers, and the corps of state attorneys, before the Council of Ministers.
In an attempt to facilitate access to these bodies, the Government is increasing the amount to €15.6 million, which will allow 1,300 scholarships to be awarded, each with an annual budget of €12,000 for up to four years, to those preparing for the competitive examinations. Of this amount, €8,400 is direct financial assistance and €3,600 is for preparation.
This preparation includes support from one or more tutors and two weekly sessions, either in person or online, tailored to the candidate's needs.
The goal is to ensure that the economic situation does not become an obstacle to studying for competitive examinations, which often require several years of study to pass.
Investment in 2025 will almost double that of 2024, which was €8 million, and in 2022 will reach €1.6 million. For now, this is a Justice initiative, although these scholarships are provided for in the draft law to expand and strengthen the judicial and prosecutorial careers. This means that if the law ultimately passes parliamentary procedure and finally enters into force, these Sere scholarships will be provided for by law without having to be a ministerial initiative that could change annually.
Last year, 983 people benefited, a 24% increase compared to 2023. Of the total beneficiaries, 790 used the scholarships to prepare for the competitive examinations to become judges or prosecutors, 162 used them to enter the legal profession, and 31 used them to prepare for the State Attorney's office.
Andalusia led the number of beneficiaries, with 26%, followed by the Valencian Community, with 13%. In terms of age, 90% of the beneficiaries were between 21 and 33 years old. Of all the grants awarded, 791 were to women, compared to 192 to men.
