The PSOE will expel Ábalos from the party today, 15 months after a case was opened against him.

The PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) will expel former Transport Minister and former Socialist Organization Secretary José Luis Ábalos from the party this Monday, once the disciplinary proceedings initiated 15 months ago with the recommendation for his expulsion as a member have been closed.
Socialist sources have detailed that Ábalos's expulsion will be approved at the Federal Executive Committee meeting that the PSOE is holding this Monday in Ferraz following the resignation of Santos Cerdán as the party's number three , linked to the alleged rigging of public contracts to collect illegal commissions.
"The disciplinary proceedings against José Luis Ábalos have been closed by the investigating judge, with a recommendation to expel the member. It will be approved by the Federal Executive Committee today," the sources explained.
In February 2024, the PSOE provisionally suspended Ábalos from the party for failing to submit his deputy's certificate and for moving him to the Mixed Group due to his "political responsibility" in the "Koldo case" by appointing Koldo García as his advisor at the Ministry of Transport.
