Aldi is ahead of DGT regulations and is now offering the V16 connected beacon, which will be mandatory starting in January.

In just a few months, starting in January 2026, Spain will experience a significant change in road safety. The Directorate General of Traffic will implement new measures that will make the connected V16 emergency light mandatory. This device is specifically designed to replace traditional warning triangles and offer greater safety to drivers.
In this context, the supermarket chain ALDI has just launched a perfectly tailored offering, providing a comprehensive and affordable solution. Starting January 1, 2026, when traditional warning triangles become a thing of the past, every driver will be required to have a connected V16 beacon, a luminous device that, when placed on the roof of the vehicle, automatically sends the location of the incident to the DGT 3.0 platform.
The measure aims to significantly reduce the risk of road accidents, as it eliminates the need for drivers to get out of their cars to place the warning triangles, especially in low-visibility situations or on high-speed roads. In fact, drivers simply need to reach out the window, without leaving the vehicle, to attach the warning triangle to the roof.
To anticipate new demands, ALDI is making its connected V16 emergency light available to Spanish drivers. This beacon is duly approved by the DGT (Directorate General of Traffic) and goes even further by including, for the same price, a free safety hammer, a vital tool for emergency situations that can be used to break windows or cut seatbelts.
Starting today and for a limited time, the supermarket chain will be selling its V16 emergency light for €39.99, a 33% discount off the recommended retail price.
The ALDI beacon also guarantees connectivity until 2038, meaning drivers won't have to worry about renewals or additional costs for more than a decade. Equipped with a geolocation chip, a GNSS antenna, and a SIM card with Orange coverage (no registration required and no fees payable), the beacon automatically connects to the DGT 3.0 platform, sending the vehicle's exact location in the event of a breakdown or accident. Its magnetic base facilitates quick and secure placement on the vehicle's roof, activating it without having to leave the cabin, minimizing risk to the driver and occupants. Furthermore, its 360° light signal is visible from more than a kilometer away, dramatically improving the visibility of the vehicle involved in an accident.
