Parents and educators call for digital de-escalation throughout all school years.

Establishing a minimum legal age for mobile phone access or initiating a digital de-escalation phase throughout all school years are some of the demands that parents and educators voiced this Saturday in Plaza de Murillo.
Around 100 people gathered this morning in Madrid to demand the right of children and adolescents to digital disconnection , a call echoed in other Spanish cities, including Guadalajara, Huesca, Malaga, Menorca, Gijón, Santiago de Compostela, Seville, Valladolid, Vigo, and Zaragoza.
Specifically, this initiative, driven by the Off Movement, defends the right of children to grow up in an environment that respects their development, without digitalization constantly interfering in their lives, both inside and outside the classroom .
Among the demands that have been heard are the release of minors from the social networks , regulate the age of mobile access, implement a digital de-escalation in classrooms at all stages, limit screen time for minors based on pediatric advice, and update training for all stakeholders on the known risks of early digitalization.
Ecologists in Action, the Spanish Association of Pediatrics, the Spanish Society of Adolescent Medicine, the College of Psychology of Castilla y León, the family platform Adolescence Free of Mobile Phones, and the teacher platform Apaga y VeÁMONOS, among other organizations , have joined this call from the Off Movement.
The mobilization was supported by experts in the field of pediatrics, such as María Angustias Salmerón, president of the Spanish Society of Adolescent Medicine, and Francisco Villar, coordinator of the Child Suicidal Behavior Care Program at Sant Joan de Déu Hospital.
