TikTok is working on a US-specific version of its app ahead of its possible sale.

TikTok is working on a version of its app designed specifically for the US in anticipation of the likely sale of its operations in that country following demands made by President Donald Trump to its parent company, ByteDance.
The Information reported this Sunday, citing anonymous sources, that the Chinese social network plans to launch this new app in the United States starting September 5 .
Even so, users will be able to continue using the original version until March 2026 to facilitate the transition, although this timeline could change. Trump extended the deadline for the US divestment of TikTok assets to September 17 in June .
The Republican president later confirmed that there was already a " deep-pocketed " buyer for TikTok and that he would make his identity public if Beijing ultimately authorized the transaction. "We'll probably need China's approval, but I think President Xi Jinping will give his permission," he explained.
