2025, a year of growth and international debut for the Cueva twins

Twins Lía and Mía Cueva went from promising athletes in Jalisco to becoming national diving icons. 2025 has been a dream year for the sisters, as it represented their debut year in international competitions, but also a year of growth and consolidation on the global stage .
Their first appearance outside the national arena was at the World Cup held last April in Guadalajara, where they captivated the local crowd with an impeccable routine that earned them a silver medal in the 3m synchronized springboard event. Since then, their rise has been meteoric. In just a few months, they have already racked up several medals at various international events in the sport, demonstrating their technical maturity, synchronicity, and charisma in every performance, despite being only 14 years old.
Their next stop was Canada, for the second leg of the World Cup series . There, although they failed to win a medal either individually or as a pair, Mía once again made it onto the podium as part of the mixed team that won another silver medal alongside Osmar Olvera, Gabriela Agúndez, and Randal Willars.
At the World Cup Super Final held in China, things were slightly more complicated for the sisters, but they still secured an important fourth place finish, catapulting them into Mexico's standout athletes.
Before continuing to compete against divers from powerhouse nations, Lía and Mía competed at the Medellín 2025 Pan American Aquatics Championships , where they also swept the board. Mía won two gold medals, while Lía contributed a silver and a bronze medal individually.
Their most recent achievement came at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore , where the sisters earned a historic bronze medal, positioning themselves among the best diving duos. This medal not only represents a personal breakthrough, but also a significant boost for Mexico in this discipline .
