BetPlay League: Major change in the draw for the semifinals, according to the rules

The 2025 Dimayor tournaments have a very important regulatory change that had not been announced by the organization and is now being discussed in connection with the BetPlay Tournament semifinal draw, which will take place this Monday.

The Dimayor club assembly modified the championship regulations and now completely changes the way the groups will be drawn for the next round.

Until 2024, the first two teams in the standings were seeded in the quadrangular playoffs and had a sporting advantage in the event of a tie with any opponent (the so-called "invisible point"). This remains the same.

What has changed is that there are no longer seedings based on position in the table, as was the case until last year: third and fourth place went into separate groups, as did fifth and sixth, and seventh and eighth. Now, everyone enters the draw regardless of their order in the table.

"The clubs that occupy the first (1st) and second (2nd) positions in the 'Round-the-Cross' standings will be group leaders, while the other qualified clubs will be placed by draw in their respective groups," the League's regulations state.

"The fixture list for the Semifinal Quadrangulars will be drawn by DIMAYOR administration, with the exception of the clubs that finished first (1st) and second (2nd) in Phase I ("All Against All"), which will serve as home teams on the final date of the Semifinal Quadrangulars," it adds.

Dimayor has not yet determined the date of the final round of the round-robin phase, nor has it announced the date of the draw for the League's semifinals.
