Toluca is not satisfied

Toluca coach Antonio Mohamed said he expects his team to reach its best form of the year during the final.

"I hope the ceiling is higher, that we can continue to improve. Today we played a nearly perfect defensive game; that was key, and then with the hierarchy we have up front, we were able to finish," said "Turco" after the match.

With two goals from Alexis Vega and one from Edgar López, the Red Devils thrashed Tigres 3-0 and secured their place in the final, where they will seek their eleventh league championship.

"My dream is to be a champion in this jersey; I hope to be talking about the Cup next Sunday," said the Argentine, who has already won league titles with Tijuana, América, and Monterrey.

Alexis Vega was the star of the second leg with two goals and an assist, leading Toluca's offense and drawing praise from fans and long-time club figures.

José Saturnino Cardozo, Toluca's iconic striker, publicly praised the Mexican forward during an interview on Televisa.

“He was humble enough to call me to give him some advice. I understand that two media teams were looking for him. He needed time to recover, to get back into shape, like he is now. You've made a great effort, Alexis. Congratulations,” he said.

Vega, moved, thanked the former striker for his support, with whom he maintains constant communication.

Tigres coach Guido Pizarro stated that the elimination is part of the team's renewal process.
