Charros de Jalisco achieves their first sweep of the season against Chihuahua

It took 27 games and nine series for the Charros de Jalisco to secure their first sweep of the 2025 Mexican Baseball League season. On Sunday afternoon/evening, the Charros defeated the Dorados de Chihuahua 1-6 in the third game of the series, which took place at the Pan American Stadium.
Once again, the pitching was a crucial factor in this victory , and Benjamín Gil didn't hesitate to make necessary changes at opportune moments. Dovydas Neverauskas was tasked with opening the game on the mound, but after allowing a run in the first inning, his work only lasted two innings. Vidal Nuño came in as a reliever, earning the win after working two and a third innings, allowing one hit, two walks, and one strikeout.
Jalisco earned its first run thanks to a double by Donny Sands that drove in Johneshwy Fargas. In the third inning, the lead quadrupled thanks to a double by Michael Wielansky that brought Fargas and Allen Córdoba home, and then Wielansky himself came home after a foul throw to third base by the defense.
After four calm innings, Jalisco broke the momentum in the bottom of the eighth with Christopher Gastelum's popup double, which Mallex Smith capitalized on to extend the lead. And to close out the night, a wild pitch allowed Gastelum to score his own run, completing the final blow.
With the first round completed, the Charros de Jalisco will begin a new series against the Sultanes de Monterrey on Tuesday, May 20, Wednesday, May 21, and Thursday, May 22 at the Estadio Panamericano. It's worth noting that the Monterrey team will arrive as the leaders of the northern zone standings.
