Jasmine Paolini defeats Coco Gauff and wins the WTA 1000 in Rome

Italian tennis player Jasmine Paolini was crowned champion of the WTA 1000 in Rome after defeating American Coco Gauff in the Final with a resounding 6-4 and 6-2 , becoming the first Italian to win this tournament since Raffaella Reggi in 1985 .

At 29 years old, Paolini showed an impeccable performance in the Final played at the Foro Italico , where the pressure of the home crowd did not prevent him from displaying his best tennis.

Her rival, Gauff , world number three, committed 55 unforced errors and seven double faults, facilitating the Italian's dominance.
