Juventus struggles but secures Champions League spot

Juventus secured their place in next season's Champions League with a 3-2 away win over Venezia in the final matchday of the Italian league. The Bianconeri finished fourth in the standings, one point ahead of Roma.
“There were a lot of emotions, an incredible adrenaline rush,” said Igor Tudor, the team’s coach since last March.
The hosts surprised with a goal from Daniel Fila in the 2nd minute. Kenan Yildiz (25') and Randal Kolo Muani (31') came back before the break. Ridgeciano Haps equalized in the 50th minute, but Manuel Locatelli sealed the score with a penalty in the 73rd.
“We definitely made some mistakes during the season. But the Champions League was one of our goals, and we were able to achieve it,” Locatelli said.
Tudor, who replaced Thiago Motta, could automatically renew his contract, although the board is reportedly interested in Antonio Conte's return.
"The choice must be made before the Club World Cup," Tudor commented on his future. The team will compete in the tournament, which will be held in the United States this summer, during the months of June and July.

Leandro Paredes converted a penalty in the 18th minute and Alexis Saelemaekers added to the lead with a header in the 53rd minute.
Ranieri, who announced his retirement, took over in November with the team in 12th place in the table.
“I told the lads we had to fight until the last second,” he said. “We won't be in the Champions League, and I feel so sorry for the fans. But we gave it our all.”
The Wolf finished fifth and will play in the Europa League next season. The new coach has yet to be announced.
“When the president wants to announce it, it’s only fair that he say so,” Claudio Ranieri commented.
