Luis Fernando Muriel beats Lionel Messi and scores against Inter Miami: video

With a goal from Colombian striker Luis Fernando Muriel , Orlando City thrashed Inter Miami 3-0 on Sunday in the MLS, deepening the crisis of Lionel Messi's team, which has won only one of its last seven matches.
Muriel's goal against Inter Miami Muriel opened the scoring in the 43rd minute after receiving a long ball from his Peruvian goalkeeper, Pedro Gallese, and scoring past the home goalkeeper, Argentine Óscar Ustari, at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, home of Inter Miami. It was the Colombian's sixth goal of the season.

Muriel reached his sixth goal of 2025 with Orlando. He had just scored against Charlotte.
Messi played the full 90 minutes and received a yellow card in the 75th minute for complaints following a foul on Uruguayan Luis Suárez, who returned after a two-match absence for personal reasons.
Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano has made changes to his lineup to improve his team's defensive performance. The team has conceded 20 goals in its last seven matches, including Sunday's, while scoring just 11. Its only win in this period came against the New York Red Bulls on May 3.

They used a five-man backline with Jordi Alba and Ian Fray on the wings, trying to find the depth they had lacked in previous matches. Shortly after the second half began, Inter Miami came out with greater dynamism in attack, but this led to a defensive disorder that resulted in two clear scoring chances for Argentine Martín Ojeda, who failed to capitalize on them.

However, on the third occasion, Orlando City increased their lead. Marco Pasalic took advantage of a rebound inside the box and with a left-footed shot beat veteran Ustari, who let the ball pass between his legs.

In stoppage time, at 90+3, Orlando City sealed the win with a goal from Dagur Thorhallson following a deadly counterattack. With the win, Orlando City moves past Inter Miami into fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 24 points.
"Unfortunately, this is the reality," Inter manager Javier Mascherano commented at a press conference. "I don't have much to say. In the second half, we tried some things, and after the goal, we were trying to take more risks." "I'm not going to deny the result; I don't think it has anything to do with the idea. We can't afford the mistakes we made, and we've clearly identified that," the Argentine manager continued.
Messi's team, which has 22 points, falls to sixth place, three points off the last playoff spot.
