Lyon sent to Second Division

Seven-time French champions Olympique Lyonnais were relegated to the Second Division yesterday due to repeated financial irregularities.

The decision was announced after the French league's football governing body conducted an audit of the club's finances. The club's current debt is estimated to be over €175 million. Lyon is expected to appeal the decision.
