Nicolás Echavarría is second at the Wyndham Championship and remains in contention for another PGA Tour title.
Colombian golfer Nicolás Echavarría will head out this Sunday in search of his third PGA Tour title. After three rounds, Nico sits in second place at the Wyndham Championship, the final tournament of the regular season on the U.S. tour.
Echavarría shot a six-under-par 64 on Saturday, leaving him with a cumulative score of 195, 15 under par. He is the only runner-up to tournament leader Cameron Young of the United States, who leads the standings at 190 (-20). There has already been a Colombian champion in this tournament: Camilo Villegas won in 2014. This year he missed the cut.

Echavarría closed his day with seven birdies and just one bogey and will once again enjoy a final group this Sunday, reaffirming, for the first time, his presence in the PGA Tour playoffs and achieving an important promotion in the FedEx Cup, where he would enter the top 50 of the year's competition.

“It's been a great week, not only golf-wise but also personally, with my team. I've been playing well. I haven't hit the driver incredibly well, but I've stayed in the fairway most of the time, and putting has been the star of the day,” Echavarría said after the third round.

"I've been calmer, more composed, especially when I've hit bad shots. I haven't beaten myself up. I've talked to myself. That was the goal this week, and the communication has been very good these past few days," he added.
The Wyndham Championship is the final PGA Tour regular-season tournament of 2025 and is the final event to determine the 70 players who will enter the first playoff event, the FedEx St. Jude Classic, which begins Thursday.

Pending Sunday's outcome, Nicolás Echavarría continues to enjoy his best season in the world's top golf category, despite not yet winning a championship. He has played in 20 tournaments, with one second place, two Top 10 finishes, and five Top 25 finishes. He sits 65th in the FedEx Cup with 628 points.
